Taichung leisure path bridge

America based landscape design office American G&D Group designed a new leisure path stretching 20 kilometres for the Taiwanese city of Taichung. The plan includes a 370-meter long bicycle and pedestrian bridge, which we were asked to design.

During the rainy season, the park will function as a reservoir for collection and storage of excess rainwater. This prompted us to come up with an innovative idea: diamond-shaped steel columns with an integrated French-drain at the bottom that function as water reservoirs. This enables the bridge to play an active role in flood prevention.
