Boschpoort bridge, Maastricht

single span

Due to the nature of the canal, no intermediate supports were allowed. We therefore designed an X-shaped intermediate support right on the edge of the canal, situated on the footpath. This divides the span into two sections: a short one that is a cantilever beam and a larger lens-shaped truss beam.

detailing

We paid much attention to detail, which for instance can be seen at the pivoting points where the axes are visible that hold the entire design together. The balusters deliberately have a sober design. This way, they fit the transparent and slender appearance of the pedestrian bridge. They have been made of cut steel balusters and stainles steel cables and are applied to the stairs as well.
