public recognition for Zwolle train station bridge
The innovative timber trainstation footbridge has been awarded the People’s Choice Award at the annual Dutch timber design awards (Nationale Houtbouwprijs) 2025. The bridge has a loadbearing timber structure as well as a timber deck. In addition, the elevator shafts have a timber structure. Key factor in choosing European softwood was sustainability. We’re proud to see the public acknowledge our design!
The design and construction of this massive bridge was a team effort by Karres en Brands, ipv Delft, Miebach, Attis, Pontico, gemeente Zwolle and ProRail.
