NEP Bridge competition London

In collaboration with Dutch engineering firm Witteveen+Bos and Winchester based Adams Hendry Consulting Ltd , we entered the Nine Elms to Pimlico Bridge competition. Ours was one of over 80 entries and unfortunately wasn’t shortlisted. The jury stated we were ‘another strong team’ and that ‘there was a recognition that this design is aspirational’. We proposed a very slender single span bridge made of fiber reinforced composite, a spiraling ramp at either side and transformation of the landings into attractive recreational areas. Belgian Steel Construction Award

Last thursday, our Hovenring was awarded the Belgian Steel Construction Award in the International Category, thanks to the involvement of Belgian steel manufacturer Victor Buyck, who was responsible for producing and building the steel structure of the circular cycle bridge. first UHPFRC standard bridge

In close collaboration with Hi-Con Netherlands and the construction engineers at Pieters Bouwtechniek, we developed a system of standard bridges in Ultra High Performance Fibre Reinforced Concrete (UHPFRC). The first standard UHPFRC bridge was opened to the public last week. It is located in the Dutch village of Pijnacker.

ipv Delft goes USA

A delegation of ipv Delft will be visiting Marin County, California next week. We were invited by the Transportation Alternatives for Marin (TAM) to share our expertise on cycling infrastructure.

several underpasses commissioned

Several underpasses designed by us will soon be built. For the city of Leiden we designed three underpasses, two of which are cyclist underpasses, for the reconstruction of the Bio Science Park entrance. In the city of Nijmegen a main intersection will be transformed into an entrance to the city. For this project we designed underpasses and the total landscaping. Both projects are currentlly in the preparation phase.

With its slender asymmetrical deck and 18-metre high pylon, the new bicycle bridge across the Rijn-Schie Canal in the Dutch city of Rijswijk is a true eye-catcher. Last week, the swing bridge designed by Dutch design office ipv Delft welcomed its first users.

Footbridge 2014 conference

From July 16th – 18th ipv Delft will be present at the international Footbridge 2014 conference in London. We will present our paper on the Hovenring, a circular cable-stayed bridge designed for the Dutch city of Eindhoven and will hold a short presentation on how to design a footbridge. The movable bridge we designed for Rijswijk city council is currently being built. The steel bridge deck was recently transported by boat to its final destination.
